Leiston, playing in the Southern League Central Division, became the hero of such stories. Their matches against stronger opponents from the higher leagues often led to sensational results, where bets on the underdog's victory multiplied tenfold.

These events not only inspired the fans, but also brought substantial winnings to Froggy Bet for those who believed in the Suffolk team's feat.

Debut in the first round of the FA Cup: a draw with Fleetwood Town (2008)

The 2008–2009 season was a breakthrough for Leyton. The club from the East Anglian League (then the sixth tier) made it to the main round of the FA Cup for the first time. In the first round, they faced Fleetwood Town from the Conference North, a fifth-division team with ambitions and a solid budget. The match took place on 8 November 2008 at Victory Road Stadium in front of a club record crowd of 1,250 spectators.

The game was tense and tactical. Leyton, led by coach Jason Dunne, focused on defence: midfielders Kyle McFadden and Chris Lightfoot reliably covered the centre of the field, while the forwards waited for counterattacks. Fleetwood dominated possession, with around 60 per cent of the ball, but Leighton goalkeeper Harvey Robbins saved his team several times, including a shot from the crossbar by forward Sean Wylie. In the first half, both sides created two chances, but the goalkeepers managed to keep a clean sheet. In the second half, Leyton increased the pressure, and in the 67th minute, McFadden almost scored from a corner, but the ball hit the post.

The result was a hard-fought 0-0 draw. This result came as a shock: bookmakers had Leighton's odds of winning at 15-20 to 1, and the odds of a draw at 7-8 to 1. The replay on 18 November at Fleetwood ended in a 2–0 defeat (goals from Holliday and Parker in the 23rd and 78th minutes), but the home draw had already secured tens of thousands of pounds in winnings for those who believed in miracles.

East Anglian Cup victory: penalty shootout against Brentwood Town (2008)

In the same season, Leyton won the East Anglian Cup, beating Brentwood Town from the East Meadow League (sixth tier) in the final. The match took place in May 2008 on neutral ground. Brentwood, as favourites, fielded an aggressive line-up, including experienced players such as Lee Kirby, but Leyton showed character.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw in regular time: Kyle McFadden opened the scoring with a header from a cross in the 34th minute, but Brentwood equalised in the 72nd minute with a penalty from Lee. Extra time was a defensive battle, with Leyton withstanding the pressure and saving three shots on goal. In the penalty shootout, goalkeeper Robbins became the hero, saving two shots, while all of Leyton's shots found the net. The final score was 4-2 on penalties.

The odds on Leighton winning were 10-12, making this triumph one of the most profitable. The final confirmed the team's strength in cup competitions, where they beat higher-ranked opponents.

Breakthrough to the fourth round of the FA Trophy: the road through Lewes (2022-2023)

The 2022–2023 season brought Leyton their best result in the FA Trophy — reaching the fourth round. The key match was the third qualifying round on 15 October 2022 against Lewes from the Isthmian League South (also sixth tier, but with more experience). The game at the Dripping Pan Stadium in Lewes attracted 612 spectators.

Lewes started strongly: in the 12th minute, their striker Oliver Bishop missed a one-on-one chance. Leyton responded in the 28th minute with a goal from Joe Doswell after a pass from Harry Barrow. In the second half, Lewes equalised in the 58th minute through Caleb Hooper, but in the 72nd minute, Leighton scored again with a precise strike from 20 metres by Lex Dickens. The defence, led by captain Jonny Warren, held firm despite pressure from the hosts. The final score was 2-1 to the visitors.

This success was an upset: Lewes were favourites with odds of 1.5 to win, while Leighton were rated at 5-6. The winnings exceeded the bets a thousandfold for the far-sighted.

League sensations: crushing the underdog and battling the favourites

Leiston has caused surprises more than once in the Southern League Central Division. On 13 February 2024, they crushed Needham Market 5-0, the division leaders who had just been promoted from the ninth tier. On their home turf, Leighton scored three times in the first half: goals from Brown (15'), Dickins (28') and Stevenson (42'). In the second half, they added two more from Forbes and McFadden. Needham, with a budget twice as large, did not create a single chance. The odds for such a rout were 12-15, bringing in big winnings.

Another match was on 17 February 2024 against Stourbridge (also in the Southern League). The visitors led 1–0 after a goal in the 20th minute, but Leighton turned the game around with goals from Dickins (55'), Barra (68') and Forbes (82'). The 3–1 victory with odds of 4–5 came as a surprise.
